Follow the instructions below to produce a copy using the Standard Copy feature.

Step 1: Turn on your PC and printer. Before you start, make sure it's totally turned on.

Step 2: Open the printer's lid and set your object on the copying surface, face-down on the glass, with the side you want duplicated facing down. Check the alignment again.

Step 3: Close the lid of the printer. If you're printing something huge, like a book, you might wish to remove the printer lid rather than force it shut.

Step 4: Choose whether you want a black-and-white or color copy. You may also have to choose the type of paper you'll be duplicating.

Step 5: If desired, resize the copy to fit the page. Some printers allow you to stretch or shrink the original to fit various paper sizes.

Step 6: Enter the desired number of copies. This can be done on the multi-function printer or in your computer's print settings. Make sure there is enough paper in the paper tray to accomplish your copying work.

Step 7: Select Start from the menu. This button is also known as the Copy or Print button.

Step 8: As the pages come out of the printer's feed mechanism, remove them. When the copies come out, don't pull on them. Allow them to find their way into your grasp.

Do not remove the original from the platen glass or open the document cover until the scanning is complete.

Press the Stop button to cancel copying.

You can add the copying job throughout the printing process (Reserve copy).

When you can add the copying job, you'll get the screen below.

Place the original on the platen glass and click the same button (the Color or Black button) as before.

When loading the original onto the platen glass, gently move the document cover.

Note:

  • You can't add a copying task while the Print quality is set to High.

  • When you add a copying job, you can't adjust the quantity of copies or the settings like page size or media type.

  • If you were unable to reserve the copy job. Restart the process. When the scanning icon shows on the touch screen, select OK and then press the Stop button to stop the copying. Then, copy the documents that haven't been completed yet.

FAQs

1. What's the difference between print and copy?

The distinction between copy and print as verbs is that copy produces an item that is identical to a given object, whereas print produces an object that is copied onto a surface, typically by machine.

2. Why is it that my HP printer refuses to generate a copy?

Now, if your printer is failing to copy and your HP Envy gives you no response when you try to perform the copy, this usually signals a hardware fault with your printer's scanning/copying assembly. A power outage or a programming problem are the most common causes of this failure.

3. My printer prints but does not copy. Why is that?

Make sure your printer has enough ink. Any ink cartridges that are close to running out should be replaced. Use the display screen on your printer or the printer software on your desktop/computer/laptop to clean the printheads. Check to see if the paper you're using right now is compatible with your printer.

4. Is it true that all printers make copies?

A multifunction printer (also known as an MFP) can do more than just make copies, unlike a regular photocopier. An MFP can copy, print, scan, and fax documents in a secure manner. Some even include stapling and hole punching capabilities.

5. Why isn't my printer communicating with my computer?

Check to see whether all of the printer's connections are connected properly and that the printer is turned on. If everything is connected and powered up, open the computer's "control panel" from the "start" menu. Double-check that your printer is set to default by selecting "printers."

Conclusion

You don’t need a dedicated copier to make a copy. With a multifunction printer, you can have almost anything copied onto a surface.
